Tuishuis was built in 1870, and even though it could have been an outbuilding of the adjoining house, it has been fully restored to a quaint three-bedroom dwelling in its own right. Adorned with rustication round the sash windows, doors and corners – it demonstrates a typical style popular in early Calvinia when the Cape Dutch thatch was replaced by corrugated iron.
The orchard behind the house provides magnificent Karoo figs, prickly pears, oranges and pomegranate for those fortunate enough to stay over.
On offer is three double bedrooms – all fully furnished with authentic antiques and Africana. It has two modern bathrooms and a lounge/dining room with fireplace, Lounge area with TV and full kitchen with BBQ facilities. Vehicular security is provided by a lock-up garage.
This accommodation is suitable for the larger family or group of friends.
